Message because the breaker is tripping don't assume you are drawing more than 20 amps. You need to get a clamp on ampmeter and find out if the problem is your breaker, your wiring, or your compressor.
It's probably a capacitor start motor, which has both start and run windings, if the start windings are not switching properly you will draw more than 20 amps.
